West Ham United fans will love what Luis Suarez has said about Fabricio Bruno amid transfer news
West Ham are set to secure their first signing under Julen Lopetegui in the coming days and Fabricio Bruno’s admirers include none other than Luis Suarez.
It was revealed on 22 May that the Hammers had agreed a £12.8m deal with Flamengo to sign the Brazilian international defender on a five-year contract.
Flamengo are set to decide whether Bruno plays in their final matches of the season in Brazil or whether the move can be completed this week, and Suarez was complimentary of the player back in December after failing to score against Bruno in three matches against Flamengo for Gremio.
Suarez was quoted by Brazilian publication Extra as saying: “[Bruno] is the best defender I have faced in this country.”

Assuming all goes smoothly with the final arrangements for Bruno’s transfer, the centre-half is set to be the first on a significant list of players targeted this summer by Lopetegui, Tim Steidten and the West Ham board.
Talks have been ongoing between the hierarchy at the London Stadium ahead of implementing a strategy which they must get right, having opted to change direction from that of successful boss David Moyes, whose last game came and went on Sunday at title winners Manchester City.
A Brazilian international at a prime age of 28, Bruno’s CV is further boosted by the reference from Suarez – a talismanic machine who has netted well over 500 career goals, and even managed a ratio of more than a goal every two games during his twilight years for Gremio last season.
The move for Bruno could be much-needed, with veteran Angelo Ogbonna’s future uncertain and the likes of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd linked with moves elsewhere.
