West Ham United fans must wait till announcement to be sure of Gianluca Scamacca signing

West Ham United fans should wait for an official announcement of Gianluca Scamacca with small details still to be resolved before he makes the switch from Sassuolo.

Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth revealed (via Twitter) on Friday 22 July that West Ham have agreed a £30.5million plus £5million in add-ons for Scamacca.

The Daily Star suggested in their print edition [23 July, pg. 49] that an announcement could be imminent but the reports appear to be wide of the mark.

But he Guardian’s Steinberg revealed (via Twitter) on Sunday 24 July that some details need resolving before he heads to London to complete his move, so nobody around the club can get ahead of themselves yet.

Got their man?

How long has it been since West Ham actually had some competition in their striking department?

Scamacca should be an addition that really gets the London Stadium excited for the new Premier League season and could be vital in making the Irons consistent top-six challengers.

The Italian international should be a perfect fit in David Moyes’ system due to his physical presence and clinical nature in front of goal.

West Ham

16 goals in the Serie A for a team that finished eleventh is a good return and Hammers’ fans should start to get genuinely excited about his imminent arrival at the London Stadium, as it looks likely if not certain.

If Moyes can add another forward to his ranks, along with a left-back, then it would’ve been a successful window.

Taking the strain off of Michail Antonio will be a huge boost going forward with the West Ham man severely overplayed at times during the 2021/22 campaign.

A perfect window at the London Stadium would see Armando Broja join the club, but a move for the 20-year-old striker does look unlikely at present.
