West Ham United face Atletico Madrid battle for Jhon Arias as bidding war mooted
West Ham may have to enter a bidding war should they wish to target Fluminense star Jhon Arias this summer, according to Canal RCN.
The Colombian outlet reported on 2 July that La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have set their eyes on making a move for the attacker this summer.
The report added that although Arias is currently valued at an approximate fee of £12.7m, a bidding war could occur, resulting in his value going up.
Why West Ham United want Jhon Arias this summer
The times they are a changing at the Hammers after the end of the David Moyes era with plenty of working going on behind the scenes.
Now Julen Lopetegui has taken charge of the Hammers, there is a revamp of the squad going on to give him a squad in his own mould.
They’ve already welcomed Brazilian starlet Luis Guilherme on a permanent deal and have even been linked with players such as Tammy Abraham and Calum Wilson to solve their striking problems.
Arias is another player that the Hammers have been rumoured to be in for and they now look set to step up for their chase for the 17-capped Colombia international.

He currently plies his trade in the Brazilian Serie A for Fluminense and can play anywhere across the front three.
The attacker played a total of 27 games last season and managed to contribute to 11 goals during that time. His versatility alongside his blistering pace could be of use to Loepetegui’s team during next season.
Especially since they are actively looking at replacements for the potentially outgoing Michail Antonio [GZH, 28 June].
