West Ham United eye Victor Nelsson as transfer could now be done
West Ham are keen on securing the services of Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelsson, according to the Guardian.
The news outlet reported on 22 August that a deal could be done for £12million but the Hammers are reliant on sales.
The 25-year-old Denmark international is also wanted by Sevilla, Lille and Bologna ahead of the transfer deadline.
West Ham may not sign three new centre-backs in the same transfer window
Financial considerations play a significant role as even if the Hammers could afford the transfer fees, the wages and squad integration for three new centre-backs would be impractical.
Team cohesion is crucial and introducing too many new faces in one position could disrupt the balance and understanding within the squad.
Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo are likely to be prioritised due to their profiles fitting West Ham’s needs more immediately or being more attainable.
Additionally, with other areas of the pitch like midfield or the wings potentially needing reinforcement, the club’s transfer strategy would aim for balance across the team.
While Nelsson is a decent option, he is not someone the Hammers need currently and are unlikely to priortise before the window ends.

However, should two centre-backs leave in the coming days, the club will then be thin in that area of the pitch and things could then change.
In other West Ham news, the club are now open to selling nine players before the transfer deadline including Vladimir Coufal and Tomas Soucek.
