West Ham United eye second centre-back amid Jean-Clair Todibo latest

West Ham United could sign two centre-backs in the summer transfer window amid interest in Nice ace Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Alan Nixon.

Taking to X on Wednesday (July 3), the journalist answered a query asking about the Hammers’ potential new acquisitions.

Asked if a centre-back will be the next arrival at London Stadium, Nixon replied: “Maybe two,” with a flushed face emoji.

The news comes amidst West Ham’s interest in Todibo, with the East London club already having a £25million bid rejected by the French club [L’Equipe].

Are Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo both heading to West Ham United?

West Ham’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements has ramped up with bids for Todibo and Kilman being lodged – and subsequently rejected.

Despite a £25m offer for Todibo being knocked back by Nice, the Hammers are determined to bolster their defence under Julen Lopetegui.

Todibo, sought after previously by Manchester United and Tottenham, brings valuable experience from Nice and Barcelona, making him an attractive target for West Ham.

Meanwhile, negotiations with Wolves for Kilman have hit roadblocks, with the Hammers hesitant to meet the £45m asking price but eager to reunite the player with Lopetegui, who holds him in high regard.

This potential dual pursuit shows West Ham’s proactive approach to addressing defensive gaps.

While it’s uncertain whether Todibo and Kilman will both land at the London Stadium, their pursuit reflects the club’s ambition to strengthen ahead of the upcoming season.
