West Ham United eye Saudi Arabia international in £3m transfer development

West Ham United are interested in signing Al-Hilal and Saudi Arabia right-back Saud Abdulhamid, according to Will Unwin.

The Guardian reporter posted via his personal X account [15 June] that Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Nice are also eyeing the defender.

Toulouse are said to have already tabled an offer, meanwhile, with a bid in the region of around £3million likely to be enough for his signature.

West Ham United being proactive in summer transfer window

Bringing in a full-back not many would have heard of for a fee as low as £3m is hardly enough to set pulses racing.

However, Abdulhamid clearly has something about him if the likes of Villa and Forest are also keeping tabs on his situation.

Capped 36 times by Saudi Arabia, Abdulhamid sounds as though he could provide adequate cover at right-back.

That is particularly pertinent as Ben Johnson is still mulling over the offer of a new contract at London Stadium and may need to be replaced.

West Ham have already got one deal over the line this summer in Luis Guilherme and others appear to be in the pipeline.

If the Irons can see of the competition to bring in Abdulhamid for a minimal cost, that would be yet more positive transfer business.

There will be higher-profile deals between now and the end of August, but the early signs are certainly positive.
