West Ham United eye Leeds United ‘sensation’ Sam Greenwood, Fulham and Brentford also interested

West Ham United are among the clubs keeping tabs on Leeds United loanee Sam Greenwood, according to TEAMtalk.

The publication reported on its website on Saturday (2 December) that other Premier League sides such as Fulham and Brentford are also interested.

The 21-year-old attacker is currently on a season-long loan at Middlesbrough, where he has made 13 league appearances.

“TEAMtalk has learned from sources that Middlesbrough already know that without promotion they will find it hard to hold on to loan sensation Sam Greenwood beyond this season.

“And we understand that West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brentford, Fulham, Leicester and Southampton have all been keeping tabs on Greenwood’s progress in the North-East.

“Should Boro earn promotion, however, then a permanent stay at the Riverside could well become a very serious option for the 21-year-old.”

Greenwood was perhaps disappointed to have been loaned out by Leeds manager Daniel Farke in the summer, having been one of many temporary exits from the Elland Road club.

There could have been fears that he would have been forgotten about given that mass exodus, but the attacker has ensured that he cannot be ignored with his performances this season.

Greenwood boasts four goals and two assists from his 14 Championship matches this season, with such displays seemingly catching the eye of a long list of clubs.

Middlesbrough would be foolish not to try and snap up the youngster permanently, but they may find it near-impossible to do so given the interest from the Hammers and a handful of their Premier League rivals.

That could, of course, all change if Boro were to gain promotion to the Premier League, or indeed if Farke has ideas about a key role at Elland Road.
