West Ham United ‘eye Japhet Tanganga transfer’ as shock Millwall twist emerges
West Ham United have set their sights on Japhet Tanganga in a “shock” development involving Millwall.
The Hammers ended the winter transfer window by bringing in Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Graham Potter is now tasked with improving the Hammers’ standing in the Premier League between now and the end of the campaign.
Only then can Potter and West Ham chiefs add to their squad once the summer transfer window opens for business.
And it appears there may already be one target on the list, despite there still being four months until the window opens.
Japhet Tanganga a target for West Ham and Wolves
According to Give Me Sport [14 February], Wolves – who ironically have another defender West Ham want in Craig Dawson – have been monitoring Tanganga’s performances at Championship level this season.
The report adds that Southampton and Ipswich Town, who could both be heading back to the Championship, have also shown an interest.
And West Ham are also credited with an interest in what it is claimed will be a “shock twist” given the rivalry with fellow London club Millwall.
Tanganga was also previously on the books of Tottenham, so it is clear why question marks would be raised.
However, if the player is good enough to compete for a starting spot at the London Stadium, that will ultimately make little difference.
Besides, Tanganga is hardly in the Harry Kane bracket in terms of his association with Tottenham.
Japhet Tanganga impressing for Millwall
At this stage, Tanganga is nothing more than a possibility for West Ham and he will no doubt continue to be watched closely over the next few months.

The former England Under-21s international has started 28 games for Millwall in the Championship this season in the heart of defence.
Given his age – he is still just 25 – and the fact he also has Premier League experience, these links make sense.
Considering three other Premier League clubs are also supposedly interested, he clearly has something about him.
With Tim Steidten no longer around at West Ham after his recent exit, it is now over to Kyle Macaulay to run the rule over targets.
If Tanganga is deemed good enough to rival for a starting spot next season, then this is a move that could just make sense.
