West Ham United eye Brentford striker Ivan Toney in £100m transfer development
West Ham United could spend more than £100million on new players in the summer transfer window, according to Dean Jones.
The journalist, speaking via GiveMeSport [6 June], also shared that Brentford striker Ivan Toney is still being eyed by the Irons.
United are also said to be looking to sign two defenders and a central midfielder on top of a new striker.
West Ham United transfer latest
The Irons look to be on the verge of signing Luis Guilherme to break their transfer duck, having so far suffered a number of near-misses.
Once Tim Steidten’s tour of Brazil comes to an end, it is likely the Irons will look to recruit from around Europe in terms of their priority targets.
It goes without saying that Toney would be the ideal summer signing, having proved himself as a regular scorer in the Premier League.
While he may have gone off the boil since returning from a betting ban, there is no doubt that he remains a top-quality player.
However, quite how West Ham plan to fund a move for the Euro 2024-bound striker is another matter entirely.
Spending £100m just does not seem feasible unless a couple of players are sold – and prized asset Lucas Paqueta is unlikely to be going anywhere.

Still, it should be an exciting summer ahead, which will hopefully end with West Ham’s squad stronger than it was beforehand.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been tipped to move for a player from Nottingham Forest.
