West Ham United eye Diego Gomez transfer amid Brighton twist

West Ham have not yet submitted a bid for Diego Gomez amid interest from Brighton this summer, according to Ben Jacobs.

Along with his Give Me Sport colleague Tom Bogert, the duo claimed on 20 July that Brighton are closing in on a deal to sign the Inter Miami player.

The Seagulls and the American outfit are working on a deal in the region of £11.6million and while the Hammers are interested, they have not acted on it yet.

The report reads: “Brighton are closing in on a deal to sign Paraguay international midfielder Diego Gomez from Inter Miami, sources tell GIVEMESPORT.

“West Ham also have interest in the player, but never submitted a formal bid, sources say.”

West Ham must attempt to hijack the Brighton deal for Diego Gomez

The Hammers must attempt to hijack Brighton’s deal for Gomez due to the potential he brings to the team.

The 21-year-old midfielder has impressed in the MLS, scoring four goals and providing three assists in 25 games for Inter Miami.

With him seemingly open to moving to England, it presents an opportunity for the Hammers to make a late move and secure the services of the Paraguayan midfielder.

Gomez’s potential arrival at the London Stadium could provide the team with a much-needed boost in midfield.

His technical ability, vision and goal-scoring prowess would make him a valuable addition to the squad.

Furthermore, his age and potential for growth align with the club’s long-term vision and it’s now on whether the club can convince him to join over Brighton.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers may vary their training routines as they have made an approach to sign a £70m-rated player this summer.
