West Ham United explore Jota move after ‘hitch’ in Ibrahim Osman transfer

West Ham United are exploring a move for Al Ittihad winger Jota, according to The Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg.

The journalist reported via his personal X account on Sunday (28 January) that the Hammers have made the decision following a “hitch” in their move for Ibrahim Osman.

Steinberg added that a January deal for the Nordsjaelland winger is “very complicated” due to the finances involved.

Attacker needed

West Ham have looked really good this season, not just in the Premier League but also in the Europa League. Their defence and midfield have put in several mammoth shifts, allowing the attackers to flourish in the final third.

And in the absence of the injured Michail Antonio, it is Jarrod Bowen who has done much of the damage, with the winger adopting a central position in recent times.

He has been helped massively by fellow winger Mohammed Kudus and attacker Lucas Paqueta, with the trio really enjoying themselves in claret and blue.

But with issues such as injuries and suspensions creeping in, manager David Moyes would be foolish to not at least consider recruiting a new forward-thinking player.

The games will be coming thick and fast, with West Ham trying to compete successfully in the league and in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

But it remains to be seen if either Jota or Osman will arrive at the London Stadium this month, with Moyes running out of time to complete a deal.

Any incoming could depend on outgoings, with the futures of Said Benrahma, Danny Ings and Divin Mubama all uncertain.

In other West Ham news, bids have been made for a South American Hammers player, with a last-gasp January exit on the cards.
