West Ham United encouraged by result of approach to sign Tottenham ace Ryan Sessegnon
West Ham have been encouraged by their approach to sign exit-bound Tottenham player Ryan Sessegnon, who is set to become a free agent, according to Sunday Mirror.
The 23-year-old winger, once a highly-touted prospect, has struggled with injuries, playing just eight minutes last season before being released by Spurs. Despite his setbacks, the Sunday Mirror has claimed via their print edition (23 June, page 73) that Sessegnon remains in demand, with West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Fulham all expressing interest in his services.
West Ham’s enquiries about Sessegnon’s fitness revealed that he will be ready for pre-season, further encouraging them to make a move.
What can Sessegnon bring to West Ham?
Sessegnon, who made his name at Fulham before his £25 million transfer to Tottenham, could offer valuable depth and versatility to the Hammers’ squad. While Fulham believe the player favours a return to Craven Cottage, West Ham is hopeful they can convince him to join their ranks.
Securing Sessegnon could provide somewhat of a boost to West Ham’s ambitions, as they look to strengthen their squad under new manager Julen Lopetegui.
Sessegnon is not only able to score goals but defensively his experience as a full-back could add depth to West Ham’s backline. His defensive skills, combined with his attacking ability, make him a valuable asset in both offensive and defensive phases of play.

Moreover, his experience in the Premier League and Championship brings a level of maturity, something that is essential in the Premier League. If he can stay fit, Sessegnon could significantly improve West Ham’s squad depth and overall quality.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sign a £25m striker with 52 goals in the last two seasons.
