West Ham United development emerges in Igor Jesus transfer pursuit

West Ham are in the race with Brighton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea, Brentford and Nottingham Forest to sign Igor Jesus, according to TBR.

The news outlet reported on 15 November that the Hammers have lodged an enquiry into signing the Brazil striker who plays for Botafogo while Newcastle and Forest have made checks on him this week.

Brazilian news outlet OTV Foco reported on 6 November that a £30.3million was lodged by the Irons which was turned down.

West Ham are unlikely to seal Igor Jesus transfer

With a valuation set nort of £30.3million, which they’ve already attempted to meet, the financial constraints of the Hammers after a summer of significant spending make such an investment highly unlikely.

Moreover, even if the price could be negotiated down to a feasible level for West Ham, clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle present more attractive propositions for Jesus.

These clubs have the financial muscle to offer higher wages, reflecting their larger budgets and wage structures.

Additionally, the likes of Arsenal and potentially Chelsea could dangle the carrot of European football, which is a significant draw for players looking to elevate their careers.

If he is to leave Brazil, he would want to ensure that he’s doing what’s best for his international prospects and given the Hammers’ recent struggles under Julen Lopetegui, he’s unlikely to pick them over some of the aforementioned clubs.

Also, after a significant investment in Niclas Fullkrug, it does make sense to pay big money for another striker a few months later.
