West Ham United decide on Raheem Sterling transfer after behind-the-scenes talks

West Ham United are unlikely to make an approach to sign Chelsea outcast Raheem Sterling, according to TBR Football.

The news outlet reported on Friday (23 August) that Sterling’s camp have “spoken to more than half the Premier League” in a desperate bid to get him a move out of Stamford Bridge after he was left out of the opening-day defeat to Manchester City and stripped of his squad number.

It is understood that the Hammers could offer the 29-year-old the chance to stay in London, which is what he prefers. However, Julen Lopetegui’s side reportedly have other priorities.

Unrest at Chelsea? Who saw this coming?

Sterling is seemingly a victim of Chelsea’s ridiculous transfer drive under owner Todd Boehly with the 82-time England international being cast aside by Enzo Maresca for the West London club’s first two matches of the season.

As per The Telegraph on 22 August, the former Manchester City and Liverpool winger has been left “humiliated” by his treatment at Stamford Bridge.

Sterling’s always been a divisive player but whatever you think of him, the Jamaica-born forward deserves to be treated better than this.

Chelsea are a mess but West Ham shouldn’t be looking to get involved with them at all.

At the end of the day, they’re a London rival and signing any players from them would be doing them a favour.

In another summer, Sterling would have been a good signing but the Irons simply don’t need him now with Crysencio Summerville coming in from Leeds United.

Someone else should get him though because he’s too good to be rotting in Chelsea’s reserves.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are favourites to sign this former Premier League striker.
