West Ham United deal for Mazraoui collapses in shock twist – Sky Sports
Noussair Mazraoui’s transfer from Bayern Munich to West Ham United is now no longer going ahead, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported this via X on 26 July and stated that despite a fee being agreed, the deal has now collapsed.
The reasoning behind the collapse of the deal is that a fee for the Morocco international’s agent couldn’t be reached.
Plettenberg adds that Manchester United are now pushing to sign Mazraoui ahead of the Hammers after they “left the negotiations”.
West Ham United must now set their sights elsewhere
Over the last couple of days, the Hammers have been linked with a plethora of talent and it seemed as if their right-back problem was finally solved.
Alas, this evidently hasn’t happened and now the Hammers must explore the market once again to fill the void left by Ben Johnson.
Mazraoui would have likely been the Hammers’ first choice for the role but the London-based club could still attempt to strike a deal with someone such as Kyle Walker-Peters or Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Indeed, it has been reported in recent days that the Hammers have made a bid [Florian Plettenberg, 22 July] for the latter mentioned of the two which was met to no avail.
So that leaves Walker-Peters. The former Tottenham man is more likely of the two and with the strong relationship that the Hammers have managed to form with Southampton after the sale of Flynn Donwes, this is a move that could happen.
Although the collapse of the Mazraoui deal is a blow to Julen Lopetegui’s squad, there’s no doubt that the club will find another player to fulfill the role.
