West Ham United: Darren Bent blasts Erik ten Hag over decision on ‘unbelievable’ Mohammed Kudus

Darren Bent has blasted Erik ten Hag for signing Antony for Manchester United instead of West Ham star Mohammed Kudus.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (15 March), host Andy Goldstein said it was an “unbelievable” solo goal from the Ghanaian international when he scored in the Hammers’ 5-0 victory over Freiburg on Thursday (14 March).

Bent claimed Ten Hag is “having a laugh” for not signing the 23-year-old winger from his old club Ajax when he decided to take Brazilian international Antony to Old Trafford instead.

“A brilliant achievement, an unbelievable solo goal, which was just fantastic,” said Goldstein.

“That’s why your manager is having a laugh,” replied Bent. “How do you end up at Ajax and you come back with Antony and not Kudus? Work that one out.”

“How on earth again do you bring this back to Man United?” asked Goldstein. “Let’s talk about West Ham.”

“Because it’s true,” said Bent. “He opted to sign Antony over Kudus. What a goal, by the way.”

Man United loss is West Ham game on Mohammed Kudus

It is easy to take a swipe at Ten Hag for not signing Kudus when he moved to Man United, but the winger didn’t really show much potential until last season.

That’s when he started to catch the eye of several clubs across Europe, having scored 18 goals compared to just one in the previous campaign.

There is an argument that the Dutchman would have known about his potential, though, and he would’ve been in a good position to go and strike a deal with Ajax due to his links to the club.

But the Red Devils’ loss is the Hammers’ gain after the Ghanaian made the move to the London Stadium last summer and has massively impressed.

His two goals in the victory over Freiburg have now taken him onto 11 for the Irons as he looks to continue putting in excellent performances and help us ensure this is another successful campaign.

In other West Ham news, sources have claimed a Premier League manager is now in the frame to replace Moyes.
