West Ham United could make new formal Aaron Wan-Bissaka announcement within hours

West Ham could formally announce the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka within the next 24 hours, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist reported [11 August] that the Manchester United full-back is set to undergo a medical with the Hammers at 4pm ahead of a £15million move to the London Stadium.

If all goes positively for the 26-year-old defender, Julen Lopetegui’s side could announce his signing by Monday 12 August, joining the newest addition, Jean-Clair Todibo.

West Ham United set to announce Aaron Wan-Bissaka in coming hours?

West Ham fans have every right to feel excited about their club’s recent transfer business, with Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez also arriving this month.

Lopetegui has clearly seen areas of the squad that he is not completely happy with, and this is certainly the case in defence with two centre-backs already being added and nearly a new full-back.

Given the lack of defensive stability under David Moyes last season, with only Sheffield United conceding more goals than the Hammers in the Premier League, it is no wonder why a squad rebuild has taken place.

While Vladimir Coufal and Emerson have been long-standing servants for the Hammers, there has always been a lack of cover in the full-back positions, and Wan-Bissaka is capable of deputising on either flank.

He has made 190 appearances for the Red Devils since arriving on a £50million deal from Crystal Palace in 2019 [BBC Sport], though life in Manchester has not always been smooth sailing for him.

West Ham backtrack on Wan-Bissaka?

A move to the London Stadium could provide the right-back with a new lease of life, having been unable to make more than 20 appearances in his last three Premier League campaigns.

Although Wan-Bissaka would be unable to provide as much attacking output as either of the two current full-backs, his defensive abilities are second to none, which will be hugely important for Lopetegui.
