West Ham United continue talks to seal new deadline day striker transfer, loan deals now rated more likely
West Ham United are running out of time in their attempts to sign a new striker on deadline day with loan deals now rated more likely, according to the Evening Standard.
According to the UK publication (1 September), the Hammers are continuing talks to sign a new striker before Friday’s 11pm deadline with discussions ongoing with Sevilla for Youssef En-Nesyri and Paris Saint-Germain for Hugo Ekitike.
A move for Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto failed to materialise this week (Dharmesh Sheth, 30 August), despite technical director Tim Steidten making the trip to Brazil for negotiations but it seems as if the Irons aren’t giving up their attempts to sign a striker.

Given the proximity of Friday’s 11pm deadline, a loan deal is rated more likely than any permanent signing, according to the Evening Standard.
Desperate attempts
West Ham United simply have to move fast if they are to secure a brand new striker because they could certainly see themselves well short should they fail to sign one before Friday’s deadline.
Certainly, David Moyes has Michail Antonio and Danny Ings available to him, but the latter could potentially leave the club before 11pm after reports emerged in TEAMtalk (1 September) that the Irons have told Ings and Maxwel Cornet that they could leave the club if suitable offers arrive.

Ings only joined West Ham from Aston Villa in the January transfer window, with Cornet joining from Burnley last summer but both players have proven ineffective transfers but it is imperative that the club secure guaranteed replacements before allowing them to leave, especially Ings.
With Europa League football on the horizon, Moyes desperately needs various attacking options, especially in the lone frontman role.
Antonio simply cannot be relied upon like he has been over the past two campaigns and it’s massively disappointing that the East Londoners haven’t managed to replace Gianluca Scamacca yet.
Surely, loan deals for the likes of Ekitike and En-Nesyri seem the more plausible and cost-effective options right now. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
In other West Ham news, one London Stadium target could cost around £15m as the Hammers make a last-ditch approach to sign another new attacker.
