West Ham United consider improved N’Golo Kante bid despite issue they’d have to overcome
West Ham United could return with an improved bid for N’Golo Kante after their initial move was rejected by Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, according to The Mirror.
The newspaper reported via their website on 20 July that a new bid could come from the Hammers despite Kante’s wages potentially causing an “issue” in negotiations.
The Mirror said that he would immediately become the Hammers’ best-paid player if he were to receive a deal similar to what he is on now.
West Ham United should throw everything at N’Golo Kante this summer
Julen Loepetgui’s defence is arguably the area of the team that needs the most improvements.
The London-based club had the fourth-worst defensive record in the Premier League last term with only the relegated teams behind them.
Defensive reinforcement have already started with Max Kilman joining the club. West Ham have also had a bid accepted for Jean Clair-Todibo [Santi Aouna, 17 July] but negotiations seem to have hit something of a stumbling block with the Frenchman seemingly keen on a move to Juventus.
The addition of Kante would not only shore up their defence but would also be an incredible addition to their midfield.

It would also help alleviate some pressure off the shoulders of Edson Alvarez and provide the club with an option to replace the Mexico international at the start of the term following his injury during the Copa America.
Indeed, Kante has spent a season in the Saudi Pro League but the form he showed during Euro 2024 still outlined how good of a player he is.
So, in reality, there’s no reason why the Hammers shouldn’t make a second bid for the Frenchman after their first was rejected [David Ornstein, 19 July].
