West Ham United confident of Guido Rodriguez signing despite multiple rival offers
West Ham are confident they can now close a deal to sign Guido Rodriguez as he is focused on them despite competition from several other clubs, Fabrizio Romano reports.
According to the Italian journalist via X on 2 August the midfielder is giving “priority” to the Hammers in the face of “several calls and approaches in the recent weeks”.
The 30-year-old is available on a free transfer after leaving Real Betis but has received recent approaches from the Spanish club and Turkish giants Fenerbahce [Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, 2 August], and Barcelona were also previously interested [Romano, 2 August].

An ambitious Hammers operation under a new manager in Julen Lopetegui should be an attractive option in the Premier League for a lot of players even if there is competition.
It seems that the manager and Tim Steidten have been too ambitious in certain cases and ended up disappointed by the failure to land the likes of N’Golo Kanté.
But signs are positive enough with Rodriguez so it would take a collapse probably more dramatic than the Fabricio Bruno deal for him not to be arriving at the London Stadium, as the contract should be signed within days after a verbal agreement was put in place [Varsky Sports, 2 August].
A verbal agreement is just that and it would be far from the first time it didn’t hold if the the Argentine suddenly had his head turned elsewhere so Romano’s update is fairly reassuring.
It appears that the Irons hierarchy are looking to cement the move as fast as possible with more talks ahead of the weekend [Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, 2 August] so the situation is moving very quickly.
After the stunning turnaround in the pursuit of Crysencio Summerville from Leeds that is clearly very welcome, especially when progress on the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and especially Jhon Duran has been anything but swift.
