West Ham United complete another permanent transfer as big-money ace signs Hammers deal

Max Kilman has signed his contract to become the latest new arrival at West Ham this summer, Fabrizio Romano has reported.

According to the Italian journalist via X late on 5 July the Wolves captain’s big-money deal is now “completed”, after his Irons medical was also done earlier the same day [Dharmesh Sheth].

The 27-year-old arrives from Molineux for £40million and joins Luis Guilherme from Palmerias and former Sheffield United keeper Wes Foderingham as new recruits for Julen Lopetegui.

Kilman previously worked under the Spaniard in the Midlands and was a key target once he took over at the London Stadium.

Max Kilman transfer from Wolves to West Ham done

Kilman’s arrival is one major step towards revamping the Hammers defence but seems unlikely to be the last with interest remaining in the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo at Nice after an initial bid was rejected.

And regular starters last term Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd could leave with strong interest from multiple destinations in both [Sheth, 5 July].

Having pushed through this move in a show of major intent decisive action will surely need to be taken at the striker position sooner rather than later as well.

The Hammers struggled for goals as it was last season and with top forward Michail Antonio’s future uncertain [Gazzetta dello Sport, 11 June], and Danny Ings’ difficult time at the club potentially coming to an end [talkSPORT, 29 May] on top there is a dearth of goal threat to lead the line.

Star England international Jarrod Bowen was deployed as a false-nine at times by David Moyes last season but doing so blunts the winger’s effectiveness.

Overall it is proving relatively slow progress so far but a third new signing through the doors, and the most significant one yet on paper, is certainly going to be a positive step.
