West Ham United close to Aaron Wan-Bissaka with Manchester United deal largely agreed

West Ham are now close to agreeing a deal with Manchester United to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka with most of the deal now sorted, according to Sky Sports.

In a live update on Sky Sports News on 31 July Alex Aljoe that “many aspects are agreed in principle” to send the right-back to the London Stadium.

However there is said to still be work to do on the structure and the fee of the transfer, which is expected to free up INEOS to sign Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.

West Ham previously tried to sign Noussair Mazraoui

It seems like the Irons are getting there at last after a protracted pursuit of a new right-back that has already met a dead end at Southampton for Kyle Walker-Peters and seen a Mazraoui move collapse [Florian Plettenberg, 26 July].

Fans might wonder how many other aspects there are outside of the crucial fee and structure elements but if the signing is now “close” it appears to a positive update.

With so much of Julen Lopetegui’s work with his new players already passed ahead of the new Premier League season there is no time to lose to conclude the necessary transfer business this summer.

Clearly it is in Manchester United’s interest to get a deal done quickly as well since they will want Mazraoui in as soon as possible.

Wan-Bissaka is into the final year of his contract and isn’t projected to be a regular at Old Trafford so it is probably no surprise that the Hammers don’t want to overpay, especially when they have plenty of other signings to make.

A compromise between the two sides is expected [talkSPORT, 29 July, 7.04pm] in order to agree a fee that is below the £17.5million valuation that has been put on the Englishman.

Once this deal is finally done it will surely be striker that requires as much focus as Tim Steidten can give it as the attempts to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa have now dragged on and Lopetegui is clearly short up front.

In other West Ham news, work is under way to sign a dynamic European attacker after frustration in pursuit of Jhon Duran.
