West Ham United can expect an imminent Declan Rice bid as Dharmesh Sheth provides update

West Ham have already turned down one bid from Arsenal for Declan Rice with Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth providing developments in the Gunners’ pursuit.

As reported by Sky Sports (15 June), Arsenal’s first bid was an offer of £80million with £10million in add-ons however the Hammers are holding out for a bigger offer for their star player.

And the two clubs remain in talks, with Sky Sports reporter Sheth providing an update on Arsenal’s next bid via the Sky Sports News Transfer show on Saturday (17 June).

“Are we expecting Arsenal to go back in? I think 100 per cent we are, and we’re expecting them to go back in very, very soon,” Sheth said.

“It’s started now, officially, Arsenal have gone to West Ham, they’ve put the bid on the table, West Ham have said no. Let’s see what happens next.”

A matter of time

It is hard to imagine any scenario where Rice is still in a West Ham shirt come September after the transfer window slams shut, however, that won’t stop the club from holding out for as big of an offer as possible.

Arsenal’s first bid was never going to be enough to secure the services of West Ham’s captain but with a second offer reportedly imminent that might be enough to get the deal across the line.

Fans recently had to say their goodbyes to fellow midfielder Manuel Lanzini and they will be hoping there is a bit of time before they have to say perhaps an even more emotional goodbye. On the other hand, the 24-year-old and Arsenal will be hoping the deal is completed as soon as possible.

A long drawn-out transfer saga is not usually favoured by any club involved, and with discussions ongoing and the player’s desire to leave as well as the club’s willingness to sell for the right price, the deal should be wrapped up soon.
