West Ham United board advisor seriously worried about Ibrahim Osman deal with Tim Steidten written all over it

An advisor to the West Ham board is seriously concerned about the potential deal to bring Ibrahim Osman to the London Stadium as they do not feel he is ready for the Premier League, according to Sean Whetstone.

The West Ham news source shared via his X account on 28 January that there are concerns that the potential arrival from FC Nordsjaelland would be a massive gamble at the price named.

As David Moyes is usually reluctant to introduce new players to the Premier League at a young age, this deal is said to have Tim Steidten’s name written all over it.

Old concerns starting to reemerge

There were reports during the summer transfer window about a fractured relationship between Moyes and Steidten, but the arrivals of Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez in particular seemed to have put those concerns aside.

Now, it seems the cracks may be starting to reappear, given the difference in the way the two chiefs want to build their squad. Bringing in a young player may be seen as a risk, but this level of concern around the transfer is not usually noted.

For an advisor to warn the board of serious concerns suggests a genuine issue with regard to the transfer or the asking price. That price has been reported at around £18million, which the board are worried about spending on a player who won’t immediately improve the team.

Osman has scored four goals and picked up five assists in his last 39 games, which perhaps suggests he isn’t ready for the step up, but the arrival of the 19-year-old is unlikely to be with an immediate first-team place in mind anyway, so the concerns do seem rather dramatic.

In other West Ham news, a “stunning” new deal could be on the cards as transfer news emerges.
