West Ham United board admires Ben Brereton Diaz with three new signings on the cards
West Ham United’s board are admirers of Blackburn goal machine Ben Brereton Diaz but are yet to make a move for the Chile international, according to The Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Writing on The Express’ website on Tuesday (16 August), Taylor reported that the Irons are hoping to sign up to three new players before the transfer window slams shut on 1 September.
West Ham are said to be “working on multiple new arrivals for David Moyes” after he oversaw a second successive defeat of the season to Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

No need for Brereton Diaz
Finally, we can say that West Ham don’t really need to sign a new striker.
Gianluca Scamacca joined the Irons from Sassuolo this summer, meaning that Moyes has him, Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen to choose from up front.
Brereton Diaz would be third choice behind Scamacca and Antonio so there’s not really any point in signing him. He can play on the left-wing too but he’s better as a striker.
He is, however, someone we could look into signing next summer if he doesn’t agree a new contract at Blackburn as his exiting deal at Ewood Park expires in 2023.
Brereton Diaz has started this season well with two goals and an assist in three Championship appearances. His second goal came against West Brom and it was a stunner from outside the penalty area.
Last term, the Stoke-born Chile international scored 22 times in 37 league outings for Blackburn, who really missed their main man when he missed a couple of months of action with an ankle injury.
West Ham have other priorities right now than a striker.
Moyes’ defence is down to the bare bones and ther midfield is looking light too.
Money needs to be spent there before another striker is brought in.
