West Ham United make formal bid for Brazil ace Fabricio Bruno as president speaks out
Flamengo vice-president Marcos Braz has confirmed a “fair” offer has been tabled by West Ham United for defender Fabricio Bruno.
The Hammers have been strongly linked with the twice-capped Brazil international over the past few weeks.
Speaking at an event on Sunday (26 May), as reported by Brazilian outlet O Dia [26 May], Braz was asked about West Ham’s interest in Bruno.
“Flamengo is analysing the proposal,” he said. “We welcome it because it is fair. It is an interesting proposal for the player.
“Let’s see what will happen. Flamengo is analysing and seeing how we could minimise this loss.”
What will Fabricio Bruno bring to West Ham United?
At the age of 28 and with a couple of Brazil caps to his name, Bruno is an experienced central defender.
The fact he has recently represented such a famous national team tells you that he is clearly highly regarded in his homeland.
While he may lack experience of playing outside his own country, this looks like it could be a smart piece of business from the Hammers.
The reported fee of £12.7million, spread across a few instalments, is pennies in today’s market. Had he been joining from an English rival, that sum would be three times higher.

It looks certain at this point that Bruno is now on his way to London Stadium, with Flamengo clearly happy with the amount they are being offered.
Another new centre-back was required this summer, and to get a deal over the line so quickly – at least it looks that way – is credit to the club.
In other West Ham news, the club are closing in on a deal for a £17m-rated player.
