West Ham United: Atletico Madrid could cash in on Samu Omorodion amid transfer interest

Atletico Madrid could cash in on Samu Omorodion amid interest from West Ham, Brighton and Wolves despite signing him just last season, according to HITC.

The sports news outlet reported on 17 April that, despite arriving in Madrid for just £5million last summer, Omorodion has thrived while on loan at Alaves, attracting interest from the Premier League.

West Ham, Wolves and Brighton are all keen to add a striker to their squad and the 19-year-old’s performances in La Liga have caught the eye in his breakout season.

David Moyes’ team have been in search of a new striker since the departure of Gianluca Scamacca last summer, with Michail Antonio and Danny Ings the only natural strikers remaining at the London Stadium.

Standing at 6 foot 4 and just 19 years old, it appears the striker already has the physical attributes required to adapt to the Premier League and he could provide a long-term replacement for Antonio if he leaves this summer.

Antonio has been the main focal point of Moyes’ team this season, but at 34 years of age, it may soon be time for him to move on and make way for a younger option – with Omorodion the one being targeted by the Hammers.

While he may not have the eye-catching name of strikers linked in the past – including Bayer Levekusen’s Victor Boniface – there is clear potential to work with in Omorodion and his natural physicality and goalscoring touch could prove a perfect combination.
