West Ham United approach Jayden Oosterwolde agent with request amid transfer interest
West Ham have requested footage of Jayden Oosterwolde from the defender’s agent amid interest in signing him, Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reports.
According to the Sports Digitale journalist via Twitter on 18 June the Hammers have asked for recordings of the Fenerbahce full-back’s participation in clashes with Istanbul rivals Galatasaray.
He had previously reported on 13 June that the club were now monitoring the 23-year-old, so the latest step suggests they may be stepping up their analysis.
The Irons have re-signed left-back Aaron Cresswell on a one-year extension [The Athletic, 28 May], but regular started Emerson Palmieri has emerged as a target for Italian giants AC Milan, with Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio reporting an approach on 18 June.
Is Tim Steidten looking to guard against West Ham exit for Emerson?
Last season was a breakthrough campaign for Oosterwolde as he made 43 appearances in all competitions, having only featured sparingly in his first half-year previously after arriving from Parma in Serie B.
West Ham seem to have been chasing reinforcements at left-back in every transfer window for some time, and that interest would logically only become more pressing if the main signing from two years ago in Emerson could leave.
The arrival of Jose Mourinho from Fenerbahce is inevitably going to lead to changes at the Turkish giants, and if he is willing to part with Oosterwolde then there could be an opportunity for the Hammers to bring him in.
He has been on the move frequently in recent seasons, having gone from Twente in the Eredivisie to Italy and then Turkey over the past three years.
It seems Tim Steidten has an interest in moving him onto a fourth team in four seasons this summer if a deal is there to be done, and given the significance of clashes between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray it looks like the club want to make sure he rises to big occasions.
If Emerson does leave it would leave a major need in his wake, with Cresswell surely only remaining for the short-term, after previously seeming intent on leaving.
In other West Ham news, a club is now hoping the Hammers will come forward and bid for a goalscorer they want this summer.
