West Ham United want to sign Derby County “defensive sensation” Eiran Cashin in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

“TEAMtalk can reveal that Derby County are set to lose their star defender Eiran Cashin in the January transfer window, with a host of clubs ready to make a move for the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international.

“West Ham, Burnley and Middlesbrough are all showing an interest, whilst Chris Wilder – who is taking charge at Sheffield United – is also keen on him.”

Defensive cover incoming?

Given the reported heavy interest in the Derby youngster, it seems that the Hammers will have a battle on their hands for his signature next month.

The January transfer window is rapidly approaching, with several English clubs set to delve into the market at this crucial stage of the campaign.

And 22-year-old Cashin may be a hot property, with the centre-back having made 23 appearances in all competitions so far in a busy season for Derby.

With the player’s deal set to expire at the end of the season, the Rams will be wanting to avoid losing the young talent on a free at all costs, meaning a January exit is very likely.

While they will be keen on tying him down to a new deal, it will be very difficult to say no to a large offer if one comes in.

West Ham brought in defensive cover in the form of Konstantinos Mavropanos in the summer, but perhaps David Moyes wants more.

In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports pundit was stunned by what one Hammers ace did in the first half against Crystal Palace.
