West Ham United, Brighton and Hove January transfer news shared amid PSV midfielder Joey Veerman links
West Ham and Brighton and Hove Albion are at the front of the queue to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joey Veerman, according to Rik Elfrink.
The Dutch journalist added on the Done Deal podcast, via Football Transfers [15 January], that Veerman does not want to extend his PSV deal.
Four-cap Netherlands international Veerman’s current deal with Eredivisie leaders runs until the summer of 2026.

Veerman said: “He is also becoming increasingly noticeable because of his defensive statistics.
“That makes him interesting for a number of English clubs. I understand that clubs such as West Ham United and Brighton are in the front row.
“I know that PSV are working on [a contract offer] and that things are not going so smoothly. That is just an ongoing process.
“It’s a bit of a paper discussion (money), because everyone knows that Veerman wants to make a move next summer.
“That’s fine and also part of the phase of his career. He is one of the very best football players in the Eredivisie.
“He can make it a little easier for by taking that step of not renewing.”
Creativity
There is no surprise in West Ham supposedly looking at the Dutch market given their success last summer in signing Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus.

Veerman is a fairly familiar name due to his exploits not just in Eredivise but also in the Champions League, having played five times in the competition this term.
The central midfielder is best known for his creativity, as backed up by his nine assists in 17 league games this season, on top of his three goals.
If his defensive game is also strong, as suggested by Elfrink, then this is surely a no-brainer for the Irons.
While the central midfield area is pretty well stocked right now, bringing in a player who can help make things happen in that zone when chasing a game is not a bad thing.
Just how much the 25-year-old will cost is another matter, but the fact he is out of contract at the end of next season will surely help United’s cause.
This may not be one for the January window, but it is certainly an exciting development ahead of the summer.
In other West Ham news, a backroom staff member believes a speedster can enhance the Irons’ squad if brought in from a European team.
