West Ham United agree personal terms with Max Kilman for £40m Wolves transfer – Fabrizio Romano
West Ham United have agreed personal terms with Max Kilman with a £40m deal with Wolves close to being agreed, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his personal X account (4 July), the reliable transfer journalist reports that a new bid has been made and an agreement is “almost done”.
Kilman has agreed personal terms on the move with Julen Lopetegui making him a priority transfer target for the centre of defence, with Dharmesh Sheth reporting that the bid has been accepted (4 July).
West Ham United finally get their man
Julen Lopetegui has been adamant that Max Kilman was the man he wanted to strengthen the defence at the London Stadium this summer, and he has got his main target.
Credit must go to Tim Steidten too because Wolves clearly don’t want to sell their captain but with their financial situation, there was always going to be a price that made them cave in negotiations.
Steidten made moves for Jean-Clair Todibo this week to not only increase pressure on them but also to make it clear that there were alternative options who were as good, if not better, but talks were always ongoing.
Kilman is rated so highly that Lopetegui could potentially become the new captain at the London Stadium with Kurt Zouma linked with a move away from the club this summer.
It’s a great signing for the club to bring in a player from a direct rival in his prime years who the manager knows well. Well done to all involved.
