West Ham United agree Nathan Trott deal with FC Copenhagen as transfer details emerge

West Ham have agreed a deal with FC Copenhagen to sell Nathan Trott this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The online source reported [18 June] that the Danish side are set to pay £2million for the 25-year-old shot-stopper, having had a two-year contract extension triggered by the Hammers.

Trott has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Vejle Boldklub, making 56 appearances and keeping 17 clean sheets in the league, but is now set to make the switch to Copenhagen.

Nathan Trott set to leave West Ham United as £2million deal agreed

Having only ever made one senior appearance for the Irons after graduating from the club’s academy, Trott’s hopes of making it at the London Stadium already seemed slim.

There may have been a sliver of hope after the Hammers decided to extend his contract, as per Roshane Thomas, though that was likely to protect their assets heading into the summer transfer window, now earning £2million from the move.

With Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski in between the sticks currently, and both likely to be at the club next season, there is little room for the young ‘keeper to develop any further.

Of course, Julen Lopetegui has a concern with the current goalkeeper situation, especially when it comes to having a third choice, so Wes Foderingham and Asmir Begovic have both been linked with a transfer.

However, the only goalkeeper transfer looks to be Trott to Copenhagen, having been at the top of the club’s wishlist heading into the summer. [Tipsbladet]

Nathan Trott is set to leave West Ham United and join FC Copenhagen

While it is a shame to see a homegrown player leave the London Stadium in search of game time, it is a sensible career move for the 25-year-old, who has been constantly sent out on loan over the last five years.

Fans will continue to keep an eye on the player’s development and wish him well as he embarks on a new path of his journey.
