West Ham United agree Aaron Wan-Bissaka terms as multi-million demand made

West Ham have agreed personal terms with Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports journalist reported via his personal X account [1 August] that the Hammers have reached a verbal agreement with the player ahead of a move to the London Stadium.

It is understood that there is still no agreement in place between the two clubs yet, with the Hammers’ £10million bid below the £18million demand.

West Ham United edge closer to Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal

Following the transfer saga surrounding Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui, with the player now heading towards Old Trafford instead, fans will not be getting too ahead of themselves until the transfer is officially announced.

However, the signing of Wan-Bissaka is an extremely exciting one, especially given his cheap transfer fee after joining Man United from Crystal Palace for £50million in the summer of 2020 [BBC Sport].

The 26-year-old has so much Premier League experience, racking up almost 200 appearances for the Red Devils since arriving from Selhurst Park, but has still had a mixed spell in Manchester.

The right-back position looks to be essential for Julen Lopetegui this summer, with multiple full-backs targeted to help Vladimir Coufal, even replace him.

While the Czechia international was a regular under David Moyes, Lopetegui could be about to force the changing of the torch, adding some more youth to the starting XI ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Wan-Bissaka is also capable of deputising on the opposite flank, which could provide some much-needed competition for Emerson at left-back, even despite Aaron Cresswell signing a contract extension.

Both players became too comfortable towards the end of last season, so a defender of the 26-year-old’s calibre will push all the stars to perform better on the pitch next term.

Fans will be hoping the whole right-back debacle is about to be put behind them, with West Ham closing in on a deal for one of the most talented defenders in the league.
