West Ham United agree £25.5m deal with Atletico Madrid for Samu Omorodion
West Ham United have “closed an agreement” with Atletico Madrid to sign striker Samu Omorodion for £25.5million, according to El Desmarque.
Writing on their website (4 June), the news outlet report that the 20-year-old striker was the subject of a bid from Julen Lopetegui as he looks to bolster his forward line.
But after spending the season on loan at Alaves last season and scoring nine goals, West Ham have seen enough to splash £25.5million on the Spanish youth international despite Atletico signing him for just £7.6million last summer.
West Ham United desperate for a striker
A new striker at the London Stadium must be seen as an immediate priority for the club this summer, because the options are very slim.
Danny Ings is interesting Southampton [TalkSPORT] currently, while Michail Antonio is wanted in the MLS and Saudi [The Athletic] and Divin Mubama is set to leave when his contract expires.
But the club are clearly in the market to improve their options with the likes of Grady Diangana, Marcus Edwards and Ruan Seko all linked heavily on top of Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.

Now the Hammers need to move quickly to get deals done and if they are convinced that Omorodion is the man to lead the line next season, then they need to pay up and get it done.
It’s certainly a gamble from the club considering he has little first-team experience and an average record, but if Lopetegui is being backed to bring success then he needs to be backed in the market too.
