The broadcaster reported [31 July] that there is still work to do between the two parties in terms of the structure of the transfer fee and personal terms with the player.
It is understood that talks are progressing positively and the Hammers have a growing feeling that a deal can be struck for the 31-year-old German international.

Julen Lopetegui has made it clear he wants a new striker added to the squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, with only Michail Antonio and Danny Ings at his disposal.
While both players are set to continue their careers in London, Ings has been out of the starting lineup for far too long and Antonio’s injury record will be a concern heading into next season.
Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran had been at the centre of attention in recent weeks but the club could move on from the 20-year-old and sign Fullkrug instead [Dharmesh Sheth].
The 31-year-old piqued interest at Euro 2024 after scoring against Scotland and Switzerland as a substitute, helping Germany to reach the quarter-final before being knocked out by Spain.
He has notched 13 goals in 21 appearances for his national team, earning a call-up to the international squad after impressing for Werder Bremen, and his recent showings have done his career no harm.
Fullkrug’s incredible goalscoring record speaks for itself. With 46 goals in 99 appearances, it was no surprise to see Dortmund secure his signature, where he has 15 goals in 43 matches so far.

Despite his large stature, the striker has proven his quick and smart movement in the final third, which the Hammers could definitely benefit from, also showcasing his wand of a right foot.
With Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus attacking down the flanks, Fullkrug will be handed countless opportunities to hit the back of the net in the Premier League if he does make the switch.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been handed a transfer boost in their quest to sign Ivan Toney.
