West Ham triple EFL raid possible as Abdul Fatawu update drops
West Ham United are finally looking to get their summer underway following their Premier League relegation.
With their worst fears realised on the final day of last season, there has been a frustrating feeling around the London Stadium since.
Sales are yet to go through for Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, while Jarrod Bowen's future remains up in the air.
At the same time, the Hammers have made no real progress when it comes to rebuilding the squad for the second tier.
Nuno Espirito Santo's side get back together for pre-season training soon, and he would surely like some reinforcements by then.
And based on a new update, this could happen sooner rather than later.
Who are West Ham's latest transfer targets?
This week, it has been mentioned that the Irons are interested in Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry after a successful spell with Bolton.
Now, ExWHUEmployee, via West Ham Way, backs up this claim, reporting that the 21-year-old is a target, alongside three others currently in the EFL.
Leicester's Abdul Fatawu is mentioned, after the 22-year-old scored nine goals and laid on seven assists as the Foxes dropped to League One.
The Ghanaian would be a real statement signing, having previously shone in the second tier.
Watford's Othmane Maamma is also highlighted in the report, alongside Stoke's Million Manhoef.
Maamma would score four league goals for the Hornets last term, while the slightly older and more experienced Manhoef racked up seven goals and four assists.
West Ham must replace one key attribute ahead of Championship return
There are not many divisions out there as rough and tumble as the Championship.
The league is extremely unforgiving, especially with the schedule.
Over a 46-match campaign, the best teams are the reliable ones, capable of picking up points even on an off day - to do so, the Hammers need pace.
With Summerville set to leave, Nuno requires a replacement capable of replicating his impact, with the Dutchman carrying pace and energy in abundance.
If West Ham are to navigate the Championship properly, they need these difference making abilities to break teams down, and change the course of a match in an instant.
Fatawu in particular is someone who fits this mould, while the other targets listed do point in the direction of this being a key transfer goal for the East London side.
