West Ham transfer update on Arthur Cabral amid news from Portugal
West Ham United are unlikely to sign Benfica striker Arthur Cabral, according to Record.
The news outlet reported in its print edition (2 February, page 7) that a move to the Hammers for the Brazilian ace looks further away ahead of the 3 February deadline despite interest in him.
Instead, Benfica are said to be looking at the Turkish or Brazilian markets for the 26-year-old as the chances of striking a deal with the Irons diminishes.
Thankfully for the Hammers their forward line is set to be imminently bolstered elsewhere. Evan Ferguson is set to complete a loan move to the Irons in the coming hours from Brighton with his medical set [Dharmesh Sheth, 2 February] after a development today.
West Ham United don’t require Arhutr Cabral after Evan Ferguson transfer
With the possible addition of the Republic of Ireland international, the East London club will arguably have the necessary options in their ranks in the number nine position.
While Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antoni are long-term absentees at the moment, Lucas Paqueta has shown he’s equally capable of being deployed as the striker.
Jarrod Bowen is also expected to be back in action soon, bolstering Graham Potter’s options up front.
Cabral would evidently have struggled for game time at the London Stadium and failed to have an impact in the larger scheme of things.
West Ham are seemingly sensible not to waste their resources on the 26-year-old Brazilian and instead focus on Ferguson.

The 20-year-old has been one of the most promising prospects in the Premier League over the years, and the Hammers may as well convince Brighton for a permanent transfer in the summer.
Potter is familiar with the Irishman, having handed him his debut at the Seagulls, and it will be interesting to see how the youngster fares in East London.
While Cabral will likely be disappointed about not moving to the Premier League, it feels best for the Irons to avoid his signing.
In other West Ham news, a 100 per cent wage deal has been agreed for the Ferguson transfer.
