West Ham transfer update emerges after Jarrod Bowen injury news

West Ham will look closely to sign a new striker in the January transfer window after Jarrod Bowen’s injury, according to Sky Sports.

The news outlet reports (1 January) that the Hammers are looking at reinforcements in the final third, but don’t have much room to work with after a big summer spend.

Bowen picked up a foot injury in the 5-0 loss to Liverpool, and Michail Antonio is also on the sidelines after his road traffic accident.

Another reason to sign a new attacker is the struggles of Niclas Fullkrug since his summer arrival.

West Ham United ready transfer after Jarrod Bowen disaster

Bowen has arguably been the Hammers’ best player this season, helping Julen Lopetegui survive the sack at the London Stadium.

The 28-year-old has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Irons, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Antonio was also a key figure in the Spanish manager’s squad before his accident.

West Ham have been unable to rely on Fullkrug due to his fitness issues, leading to frustration among the London Stadium faithful.

The German made a big-money switch to the Hammers in the summer but has failed to make an impact.

Crysencio Summerville also signed for the Irons from Leeds United in the previous transfer window, but Lopetegui seems reluctant to use him, although he will now have to.

The East London club are in the bottom half of the table despite making quality additions to their squad, making the Spanish head coach’s tenure a failure.

David Sullivan needs to make some important decisions in the coming days to salvage the season after some abysmal performances under the 58-year-old head coach.
