West Ham transfer update as loan to buy option eyed for Elye Wahi

Galatasaray have now entered the race for the transfer of West Ham United target Elye Wahi, according to L’Equipe.

The French outlet reported via their website (14 January) that the Marseille striker was now at the centre of interest from the Turkish club in a loan-to-buy deal.

The Hammers are now in dire need of number nine reinforcement with the likes of Wahi and Gaetan Laborde linked with a move to West Ham.

Graham Potter needs to sign a striker for West Ham United soon

Although at the moment Graham Potter’s West Ham tenure is still in its early days, it feels like he needs to start making noticeable changes as soon as possible.

The 2024/25 season has been one that fans will no doubt want to forget as soon as possible due to the position they currently find themselves in.

Julen Lopetegui was brought in to try and create a new tactical style but instead, he ended up doing a worse job than what David Moyes did when he was at the helm.

Potter will no doubt make some solid changes when the time comes but if he wants to be taken seriously and prove to fans that he’s all in, the recruitment of a striker should be his top priority.

With the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio all out for extended periods, a number nine is an essential bit of recruitment that the Hammers need to do.

Otherwise, they could end up finishing the campaign worse off than they currently find themselves.

In other West Ham news, a huge twist has emerged regarding the transfer of Taiwo Awoniyi.
