West Ham transfer round-up: Douglas Luiz details emerge as United make announcement
West Ham United appear to be ready to ramp up their transfer business in the coming days.
Graham Potter’s first game of the 2025/26 season against Sunderland is slowly approaching, but the Hammers have only added El Hadji Mallick Diouf to their ranks.
The Hammers need reinforcements across the pitch, and it will be interesting to see whether Potter’s side are equipped at the start of the season.
Here, West Ham Zone rounds up the latest from E20 over the last 24 hours.

Graham Potter wants to bring Shea Charles to London Stadium
Sheffield Wednesday are facing an uncertain future with their owner, Dejphon Chansiri, failing to sell the club.
After losing many players and losing their manager, the Hammers could inflict more pain on the Owls.
West Ham have registered an interest in signing 20-year-old keeper Shea Charles.
Wednesday are unwilling to offload their young keeper, but it is claimed that West Ham are set to test their resolve.
It doesn’t seem like it would take too much for the Irons to convince Wednesday to let go of their keeper given their financial situation.
Ferguson to play vital role as West Ham chase Dovbyk
Evan Ferguson’s time on loan with West Ham was unsuccessful.
Supporters grew frustrated with the Irishman’s performances, but he could be forgiven should Ferguson help the Irons sign Artem Dovbyk.
A report from La Gazzetta Dello Sport’s print edition (page 18, 29 July) claims that Dovbyk could leave the Giallorossi after the Irishman was signed on loan, as he is not a guaranteed starter anymore.
The Hammers and Leeds United are interested in the forward, and it could take a fee of £30.3million to attract Roma to sell the 28-year-old.

West Ham will adopt patient approach with Luiz
David Sullivan has ramped up his efforts to add to the Hammers’ squad after a disastrous 2024/25 season.
The West Ham owner is looking at bringing in Juventus’ Luiz as Potter looks to sign a ball-playing midfielder to help him implement his style of play.
After failing to make a breakthrough so far, La Gazzetta Dello Sport’s print edition (29 July, page 11) reports that West Ham are prepared to wait until the end of the transfer window to get a better deal for Luiz.
It’s also suggested that a “high-cost” loan deal with an option to buy may be on the cards, should the Hammers be unwilling to pay the Old Lady’s reported £30m asking price.
Patrick Kelly leaves West Ham
Patrick Kelly, 20, has been part one of a number of youth players to leave the club this summer, following Sean Moore’s departure.
The Northern Irishman has joined League One side Barnsley permanently, after struggling to break into the Irons’ first team, as confirmed via the Hammers’ official website on Tuesday (29 July).

The youngster spent time on loan with Doncaster Rovers last season and has failed to make a senior appearance since joining the Irons in 2022.
With so many youngsters departing, supporters have been left concerned by their lack of transfer business.
