West Ham match Liverpool bid for Brazil international Andre, Fluminense weighing up offer

West Ham have matched the offer of Premier League rivals Liverpool for Fluminense midfielder Andre, according to Lucas Pedrosa.

The SBT Sports journalist posted on his personal Twitter page on Thursday [31 August] that West Ham are also prepared to wait until January for the 22-year-old to arrive.

Pedrosa adds that former player Naldo Rodrigues is currently in Brazil representing the Hammers in talks with Andre, who has emerged as a target after negotiations with Corinthians over a move for forward Yuri Alberto collapsed.

Over to Fluminense

West Ham are clearly eager to add to their Brazilian collection of players, as technical director Tim Steidten is also reported to have jetted out to South America this week [Daily Mail].

Rather than feel sorry for themselves after failing to get a deal over the line for Alberto, the Hammers have quickly moved on and found another promising player.

Andre has been strongly linked with Liverpool this summer, but West Ham have seemingly come in with a better offer than the Reds, given they are prepared to wait until the Brazilian season finishes before the 22-year-old arrives at the London Stadium.

Fluminense are now said to be mulling over the undisclosed offer for Andre, who earned his first senior cap for Brazil earlier this year.

West Ham

The Ibirataia native has made 25 appearances for Fluminense this season in Serie A and the Copa Libertadores, scoring once.

Andre has received seven yellow cards in his 16 league outings this term, meanwhile, giving a rough indication as to what he is all about.

If West Ham can get to his signature ahead of Liverpool, the club deserve massive praise.

In other West Ham news, a player who recently left the London Stadium is about to join another Premier League club.
