West Ham transfer news as Yuri Alberto deal ‘more advanced’ than Youssef En-Nesyri
West Ham are not finished in the market when it comes to attacking additions, and a deal for Yuri Alberto is currently “more advanced” than a deal for Youssef En-Nesyri, according to transfer reporter Dean Jones.
The Hammers have made some fantastic additions to their squad this summer, bringing in the likes of midfielders Mohammed Kudus and Edson Alvarez from Ajax, as well as James Ward-Prowse and former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Meanwhile, as reported by The Evening Standard (29 August), they remain active in the market as they continue their hunt for a brand new number nine before Friday’s deadline. Both Corinthians’ Alberto and Sevilla’s En-Nesyri are targets for the club, and Jones has provided an update on the pursuits.

“Sevilla won’t be easy to convince around this one and also I am told the player (En-Nesyri) has some reservations around it, so I can’t say I am overly expectant of it happening, but he’s a great player and rotating with Antonio, I can see that being a really good place for this team to be in,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT (29 August).
“I don’t know much about Alberto as a player but the deal seems more likely at this stage. It’s also more advanced.”
Caution
While supporters at the London Stadium will be delighted to hear that the club is making progress in their pursuit of a brand-new striker, it is important that they remain sceptical and don’t expect lots from Albertro immediately, should he make the switch from Brazil to England.
Plenty of players have struggled when making the transition from South America to Europe, and while Alberto does have some experience playing overseas, having spent some time with Zenit St. Petersburg in Russia, he will still be relatively raw.

Patience will therefore be key and it is incredibly frustrating, as En-Nesyri would arguably be the better addition due to his experience of European football. However, it appears it will be Alberto, if either, and it is important that fans get behind whoever they bring in and create the best environment for them to succeed in.
Whatever happens, there should be plenty of excitement around the club’s approach and the season ahead.
In other West Ham news, a journalist believes that one of the club’s confirmed summer signings could be a real hit in the Premier League.
