West Ham transfer news as Latte Lath close to agreeing deal

Leicester City are set to sign West Ham target Emmanuel Latte Lath in an eight-figure deal from Middlesbrough, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Via his Patreon (3 January), Nixon reported that Leicester “hope to agree” a £12million deal for the Ivorian striker, who was previously linked with West Ham (TuttoMercatoWeb), naming the Hammers and Ipswich Town as other interested parties.

Latte Lath’s agent had travelled to London last month (Sunday Mirror) over a proposed deal that could have seen him joining the Irons but it now looks like Leicester’s race to lose.

Described by Nixon as an “exciting forward”, Latte Lath has been angling for a move and a deal to join Leicester City looks all but agreed.

West Ham need to sign a striker this January

With a move for Latte Lath now seemingly off the cards, the Hammers will be forced to look elsewhere in an attempt to bolster their forward line, which has caused them problems all season.

Aside from Jarrod Bowen, who is now facing a spell on the sidelines, West Ham have struggled to score goals and it has contributed massively to their regression since the appointment of Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium.

Niclas Fullkrug just hasn’t worked out for the Irons while Danny Ings has been somewhat of a spectator and the signing of a young but talented striker is an absolute must if they are to turn their season around.

Latte Lath may have been a risky signing given his lack of experience in the top flight but its a type of risk the Hammers will need to take in order to strike gold.

Given his goal record in the Championship, he could prove to be a shrewd addition for the Foxes if they can complete a deal, which would surely boost their survival hopes.

In other West Ham news, the Irons want to sign an England international defender.
