Alan Nixon provides update on who West Ham want to sign now

West Ham are hoping to bring in a left-back as well as an attacker before the transfer window closes, according to Alan Nixon.

The Hammers have so far signed midfielders Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse this summer, while Declan Rice, Gianluca Scamacca and Manuel Lanzini are among those to have moved on.

Amid ongoing links with a number of players, transfer expert Nixon provided an update on Tuesday [22 August] when responding to a fan who asked if the Hammers are still looking to strengthen in the attacking areas.

“Want somebody like that… and maybe a left back,” he posted on his personal Twitter page.

Multiple options

Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus is the name most strongly linked with a move to the London Stadium in recent weeks, with the Ghana international said to be open to joining the club [Fabrizio Romano].

If David Moyes gets his wish, meanwhile, he will also have more strength at left-back, with that a troublesome position at times last season.

Emerson Palmieri has started the Hammers’ opening two games there this season and is a solid option, but there is no doubt that there are upgrades out there.

West Ham

Aaron Cresswell was the player used most regularly on the left-hand side of defence last season, but any incoming arrivals could see the Englishman’s London Stadium exit finally sanctioned.

Moyes clearly wants multiple – reliable – options in each position, but the clock is fast ticking down to bring in the attacker and left-back he is after.

As expected, though, the Hammers’ transfer business is set to go right down to the wire.

In other West Ham news, Lucas Paqueta’s move to Manchester City is now reportedly completely off.
