West Ham to send millions to Barnet as bid submitted for Ronnie Edwards
West Ham United could send close to £5million to Barnet if they sign Peterborough defender Ronnie Edwards, according to the Peterborough Telegraph.
The outlet reported (30 August) that Edwards’ previous club Barnet will receive 50 per cent of any sale. Peterborough values the youngster at £10million, meaning the Bees could receive up to £5million if the Hammers agree to this fee.
The Evening Standard reported (30 August) that West Ham had tabled an offer to the Posh regarding Edwards and are in talks over a final price tag, but his current club will only get half the fee.

Setback?
While Edwards’ sale from Peterborough is likely, this window or next, the Posh will have to eventually deal with the sell-on clause.
The BBC reported (26 July) that Edwards was set to leave this summer, with manager Darren Ferguson saying: “We fully expect Ronnie Edwards to go, so we’ll have to replace him”, so bids from top clubs were not a shock.
However, Peterborough may be reluctant to let him go so soon so they can wait to increase his value and maximise any profit made from his sale.

However, this feels like a luxury they can’t afford and the League One outfit will be happy to get a nice profit out of him after signing him from Barnet for free.
BBC Sport’s live transfer blog claimed (16 August, 11:55 am) that Rangers and Bournemouth also had an interest in Edwards, so a departure to a top-flight side had been on the cards for a while.
The Hammers seem to be the closest team to reaching a deal for Edwards, but Barnet will be the ones laughing if a move is completed.
