West Ham to complete documents for Jhon Duran signing as Aston Villa agreement reached

Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran is on the verge of signing for West Ham United, according to Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra.

Writing via his personal X account on Thursday morning (25 July), the WinSportsTV reporter claimed that the two Premier League clubs have a verbal agreement over a £35million transfer.

It is understood that “in the near future”, the documentation that would take Duran, 20, from Villa Park to the London Stadium will be completed.

West Ham United to complete new transfer for Jhon Duran

West Ham have had a lot of bad luck when it comes to signing strikers over the years.

David Sullivan’s continual failure to get a really good number nine is summed up by the fact that Michail Antonio, a former right-back and right-winger, has turned into a striker and ended up becoming the Hammers’ all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League.

While Antonio will always be adored by fans for his goalscoring exploits over the last five years, it’s time to move on from him being the main man up front due to his advancing years and the fact that for the last couple of seasons, he’s just not looked like a striker.

Duran will freshen up Julen Lopetegui’s attack.

The Colombia international may not have had too many chances to shine at Villa Park but last season, he did show that he’s capable of finding the back of the net in the Premier League with a goal against Manchester City in April and a brace as a substitute against Liverpool in May.

For a 20-year-old striker with international and Premier League experience, Duran could be a very good signing for Lopetegui.
