West Ham to accept ‘good offer’ for Rodriguez exit amid Hammers ‘disaster’
West Ham United would be open to accepting a “good offer” to end a “disaster” spell for Guido Rodriguez in East London, according to The Times.
Gary Jacob (10 January) has claimed that Rodriguez could be moved on if any interested clubs are willing to stump up a respectable bid.
It would represent a quick profit on the Argentine midfielder, who left Real Betis for the London Stadium last summer on a free transfer, but has failed to impress in his 12 Premier League starts so far – being hooked off in nine of those by now-sacked head coach Julen Lopetegui.
Jacob also noted that the Hammers are seeking a new club for Maxwel Cornet, while key attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus is anticipated to leave next summer.
He stated: “The club want to sell Maxwel Cornet, the winger who is on loan at Southampton, and a good offer would also allow them to offload Guido Rodríguez, the midfielder whose summer move has been a disaster. Mohammed Kudus is likely to be a summer sale.”
Guido Rodriguez could leave West Ham after six months
If West Ham were to sell Rodriguez this month, it would on the face be quite an astute business deal, given they picked the midfielder up from Betis upon the expiry of his contract.
However, it would also represent haste regarding the ambition for success in the transfer market. The Irons spent well over £100million ahead of what has been an underwhelming season at best, and disastrous at worst so far.
Rodriguez has totalled 17 appearances in all competitions and has been pretty ordinary, despite the fact he is a 30-cap Argentine with a World Cup on his CV.

But unless there is a concrete offer, the club should consider keeping him around and finding out whether he adjusts to the Premier League and becomes an important operator under Graham Potter.
There are players who have let down the Irons staff and supporters more than Rodriguez has in recent months, but it is likely ultimately to come down to who can command the highest transfer fee – and an experienced World Cup winner who has featured in Europe will appeal to many.
