West Ham target Jesse Lingard posts cryptic message on Instagram

West Ham target Jesse Lingard has posted a cryptic message on Instagram, possibly hinting at a return to the London Stadium.

The midfielder has been a reported target of the Hammers, with David Moyes eyeing a return for the midfielder who left Manchester United in a permanent deal at the end of last season.

However, the 29-year-old has now posted a message on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday (19 July), connoting that the Hammers may want his return and that he values the appreciation.

The post said: “Anyone can want you, but the love hits different when someone actually values you.”

ExWHUemployee replied to the post when it was brought to his attention on Twitter.

When asked if it’s about the Irons, the reliable insider said: “I would imagine so, yeah.

“It links with what I said on Patreon earlier.

“Although I wish he would stop these stupid messages.”

Return on the cards?

This message could be hinting at how the player has felt since returning to his boyhood club after his successful loan spell, and how he failed to secure a loan move away from the club in January after it was made clear that he would not play a significant role in the team.

Then-manager blocked a move away from the club, citing that he still needed Lingard in the team and the England international was not even allowed a farewell appearance at the end of last season after coming through the youth ranks and going on to make 231 appearances and score 35 goals for the club.

The Instagram post may be pointing towards how he may not have felt wanted at Manchester United, however, the Hammers have shown a completely different type of affection to Lingard.

West Ham

Lingard made 16 appearances for the club between January 2021 and May 2021, scoring nine goals and recording five assists, a scintillating record of 14 goal contributions in 16 games.

He formed a great connection with players with the squad and the West Ham faithful, and they have clamored for his return ever since.

With a return now officially on the cards, this Instagram post may be the ultimate hint that Lingard cannot wait to play at the London Stadium again.

In other West Ham news, the club are set to embark on a £150m spending spree.
