West Ham target Adrien Truffert set to snub London Stadium move and sign new contract

West Ham transfer target Adrien Truffert is set to sign a new deal at Rennes, seemingly putting an end to the East London club’s pursuit of the full-back, according to Foot Mercato.

The French news outlet reported on 1 August that Truffert has agreed on a two-year deal to keep him at Stade Rennais after he recorded six assists for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

The Frenchman had inspired interest from AS Monaco as well as two Premier League sides West Ham and Nottingham Forest, with the latter targeting him as a replacement for Renan Lodi after the Brazilian left-back’s loan deal expired.

Yet another transfer blow

West Ham have suffered yet another transfer blow, after having bids turned down for Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and James Ward-Prowse, Truffert has also made a decision on his future, seemingly ruling himself out of a move to the London Stadium.

It has been a depressing transfer window for fans of West Ham, after Declan Rice left to join Arsenal almost a month ago [15 July], and the club have been slow in the process of finding his replacement, or any new players at all.

The Hammers are the only Premier League club not to have signed a single player this summer despite the huge incoming fee they received for Rice, leaving them with just four available midfielders as things stand, with the Premier League season set to begin in two weeks time.

West Ham

The aim for the club this summer has been to improve all over the squad instead of focusing all of their attention on a Rice replacement, but their scattergun approach to transfer business has caused issues with no clear direction or intention in their bids.

In other West Ham news, Chelsea have set a £45million price tag on one of West Ham’s targets.
