West Ham target Adam Hlozek hits four goals in 23 minutes on Saturday

West Ham are desperate to sign teenage sensation Adam Hlozek from Czech Republic side Sparta Prague, according to French journalist Salim Baungally.

Hlozek, 18, sent shockwaves around Europe on Saturday afternoon with a sensational 23-minute goal frenzy as Sparta beat Brno 6-1 on the final day of the season.

The Czech Republic international scored his first in the ninth minute and by the 32nd minute he had four to his name, before he was substituted at half-time, and the official Sparta Twitter account tweeted after the game that “this [Erling] Haaland kid is the new Hlozek”.

West Ham were linked with a move for Hlozek in April by online news outlet 90min, and it appears their interest has not gone away.

RMC Sport host and journalist Baungally responded to a tweet about the starlet’s goal tally on his personal Twitter profile, and it’s promising news for West Ham fans.

“For this reason, West Ham is completely on him (and also the Czech from Moscow Alex Kral) by diligently controlling Soucek and Coufal,” he said.

Prodigious talent

There aren’t many 18-year-olds who can lay claim to scoring four goals in a single professional match, let alone in a 23-minute time span.

The Czech Republic First League may not set the bar in European football, but some big Premier League talents have made their names in Europe after initially impressing there.

Think of Petr Cech and Tomas Rosicky in years gone by, but also current West Ham stars Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal.

Both players made the move from Prague to East London last year and have gone on to enjoy brilliant campaigns under David Moyes, helping to inspire the Irons to a Europa League berth next season.

Now they could be joined by a former rival after their Slavia Prague days.

Hlozek has already scored over 20 league goals for Sparta since his 2018 debut and he has been named in the Czech Republic squad for the upcoming European Championships, where he could face England and Scotland.

We’ll be watching with intent if nothing has been agreed beforehand.
